Innovation and Sustainability Technician

Role Purpose

The purpose of the Innovation and Sustainability Technician is to conduct hands on development of new leather products and properties for the sustainable interiors of our current and future customers. This is to support our aim of embedding the Company as global leader in sustainable innovations.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Assist in developing innovative leather types and properties based on customer feedback, consumer preferences, regulatory drivers to support the Company's strategic ambition
  • Liaise with the Technical and Production teams to organise research and development (R&D) activity
  • Create and maintain accurate logs of work and studies conducted
  • Supporting the Innovation Technologists with timely and accurate presentation of research proposals, reports, charters and exploitable project outcomes (prototypes)
  • Presentation of content for the innovation "hub" magazine: for board and Company distribution
  • Attend and contribute to innovation workshops with multifunctional groups
  • Ensure the Company’s sustainability credentials are maintained, and provide data to underpin proactive internal and external campaigns to challenge the status quo in all aspects of sustainability
  • Collect environmental results and compliance to support the Head of Innovation and Sustainability (I&S in developing practical solutions for implementation
  • Provide input for the quarterly board report content containing innovation and environmental data
  • Prepare content for external dissemination
  • Prepare successful funding applications with external bodies to underpin the R&D
  • Build a network and contacts to assist in production development.

Experience Desired

  • Qualification or experience in leather manufacturing
