Assistant BOM Engineer

Role purpose
Additional responsibilities will include learning to create and maintain product and production data across the MRP system. This will involve analysing existing bill of materials, formulas and routings to enhance the usability of this data in accordance with customer CAD, bill of materials, and D365 F&O operational processes.
The Assistant BOM engineer will need to work and collaborate with the manufacturing team, planning and scheduling teams on a regular basis. Additionally, having working relationships with CAD engineering, Commercial and Procurement teams will also become key.
Key accountabilities
- Generation, and support, of:
- Bespoke formulae for niche manufacturing operations
- Discrete BOM’s for mass manufacturing operations
- Operational routings, operations, timings
- Creation and update of BOM's and formulae with new parts, part deletions and quantity changes, ensuring that a full check of work has been done
- Working with operations, planning and scheduling teams to manage the creation of batch orders for week-to-week manufacturing of bespoke cutting programs
- Ability to use Microsoft excel/Power BI to review output from planning data to support the above, using formulae such as lookup’s or equivalents
- Working with the quality team to support process improvement, corrective action requests (CAR’s) and resolution of 8D’s relating to issues relating to data within the ERP system
- Support IT / Dynamics teams with data uploads of technical data
- Support operations and finance teams with review and implementation of change management of all above
- Working with CAD team to transition ‘design’ BOM’s to full manufacturing/production BOM’s
Experience Desired
- Experience in supply chain or production environment
- Excellent communication skills to build relationships with all stakeholders
- Able to plan effectively in an environment with ever changing priorities
- Able to work effectively with limited guidance and determine own priorities
- Well-developed personal computing skills including spreadsheet applications
- Good attention to detail
- Self-motivated and able to work proactively both independently and as a member of a team
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics or similar ERP systems
